Orthodontics
Orthodontics can be performed by a general dentist who has had the proper training. Dr. Sanor has completed 200 hours of continuing education in Dr. Gerety’s Straight Wire No Extraction Orthodontic Technique course. Dr. Sanor took a special interest in Dr. Gerety’s course because she disliked the idea of pulling perfectly healthy teeth in order to make them straight and embraces the alternative. Dr. Sanor is not an Orthodontist and anything outside of her scope will be referred to a specialist, nonetheless she will continue to update her education in orthodontics on a regular basis. Being a family dentist allows Dr. Sanor to oversee the growth and development of her patient’s mouths from the time they are very young which gives the opportunity for orthodontic prevention or intervention appliances. The use of these appliances can improve and sometimes eliminate the need for braces all together. Appliance therapy can begin as young as six years of age. We encourage our patients who have orthodontic questions to discuss them with the dentist when they schedule their family’s regular cleaning appointments.
